This 3 hour CPD course is a great opportunity for undergraduate or postgraduate dental nurses, dentists, practice managers and receptionists to get up to speed on current legislations for health and safety within a dental setting.

Objectives of this CPD course

  • Gain knowledge of current guidelines, procedures and protocols in health and safety
  • Use of audit tools to confirm legal requirements are met in the practice
  • Gain knowledge of RIDDOR, COSHH and waste disposal
  • PUWER and other regulations
  • Understanding manual handling and ergonomics
  • Practical use of health and safety legislations

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand, provide and maintain a healthy and safe work environment whether you are a dentist, dental nurse, practice manager or receptionist
  • Understand health and safety legislation and be able to put them into practical use in dentistry
  • Improve patient safety when it comes to use of chemicals, compressed air, X-ray, storage of medication, waste management both clinical and standard
  • Be up to speed on fire safety and able to identify hazards within the practice
